Kate Middleton is a fan of Wimbledon and with her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle had their first official hangout at the women’s singles final on Saturday afternoon. The following day, Kate and husband Prince William enjoyed a daytime date at the men’s singles final.
The royal couple was very happy and enjoying their time as they settled into the royal box to watch Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson compete for the crown. They left their three children at home so they could enjoy some couple time together. Kate has been attending Wimbledon since she was a kid, and she’s a lifelong tennis fan. Kate and William even have a court at their home at Anmer Hall.
“It is such a quintessential part of English summer,” Kate said of Wimbledon last year. “I was really taken by Agassi and Sampras, Ivanisevic and Steffi Graf. That for me was my first memories.” Attending this weekend’s matches were Kate’s first tennis outings since giving birth to Prince Louis, and the new mom of three is already passing her love of tennis on to her children. George is showing some interest at just 4 years old.
“[Kate] says with George still so young he just wants to whack the ball. So, she was asking what sort of stuff he should be doing,” a coach with the Lawn Tennis Association told People. “She said he’s interested in it but more in whacking the ball.”
