Imagine you’re walking the Magnificent Mile one night. You stop in one of your favorite stores. You and your family are browsing around, admiring the merchandise, when suddenly there’s a flash of activity in the store. You realize a group of people, maybe four or more, have begun running around the store, pushing people out of their way as they grab as much merchandise as possible.
So would you know what to do? Would you be able to keep your children safe?
A newly released surveillance video shows a “flash mob of thieves” striking the Fashion Fair Mall in Fresno, California.
Culprits made away with a small fortune of Apple products. Seconds was all it took for the four young men in hoodies to make off with $27,000 worth of products, including iPhones. Lt.
Mark Hudson of the Fresno Police Department said in a statement that the group took “Various iPhones, the iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and 8, and even the new iPhoneX was taken in this grand theft.”
These thieves are highly motivated by the high-end merchandise, and their goal is to get out as quickly as possible.
The best thing you can do is stand down. These criminals are dangerous, and your life is NOT worth risking for an iPhone!
Apple has begun implementing safeguards against these types of thefts to hopefully deter criminals.
