At 7-foot, 7 inches tall, Paul Sturgess is getting his first-ever suit! The UK’s tallest man is finally getting his first suit – spending £1,500 on an outfit which contains twice the amount of fabric a regular man would need.
Mr. Sturgess, who is a former Harlem Globetrotters basketball player, is attending the wedding of his close friend Luis Taylor in Atherstone, Warwickshire, which is why he needed the suit.
He said, “When I lived in the USA, it was so much easier, I did a lot of shopping online and there are more sizes available. Apart from the suit, I have had a custom-made bed and golf clubs – I wouldn’t say I have had trouble with anything else.
The 30-year-old, Britain’s tallest man, orders most of his clothes online but for an upcoming wedding, he’ll need something a little fancier.
Now Mr. Sturgess, from Loughborough, managed to find Tim Nash from Norton and Townsend tailoring in London who gladly agreed to make him a suit which would fit. “I am very grateful, especially since I have been struggling to find someone to do the job. I am very excited and I am really looking forward to wearing my new suit.”
Sturgess says getting fitted a new suit for the big day was pretty much impossible until he met a tailor willing to fill his tall order. “I take it all in stride and I treat it as something very positive,” he said.
